Terms of Use

Who provides this
Thelwen is made and maintained by one person. There is no company behind it yet. Questions about these terms can be raised at github.com/IdanYakubov/thelwen/issues.
Thelwen is provided by Idan Yakubov.
Private questions can be sent to [email protected].
What these terms cover
The free Thelwen app, the waitlist on this website, the community around Thelwen, and the paid full system once it opens. Where a rule applies to only one of them, it says so.
The free app, as-is
The free app is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, including that it will keep working or that it is fit for a particular purpose. Features may change or be removed. Everything you write in it stays on your device, so we cannot restore it: if you uninstall, clear its storage or change devices without exporting first, it is gone.
The waitlist
Joining is free and commits you to nothing. It also does not guarantee access, a launch date or a price. You can leave at any time, as described in the Privacy Policy. You must be 16 or older to join.
The full system subscription
These apply once the full system is on sale. Nothing can be bought today.
- There are two plans: Basic at US$15 a month, with 50 AI mentor messages a day, and Deluxe at US$29.99 a month, with 100 a day. Each can also be paid yearly in advance: US$144 or US$288 a year. Prices are the same everywhere. The website shows them converted into your currency and rounded up to a normal price; the price shown at checkout, in your currency and including any tax, is the price you pay.
- The subscription renews at the end of each period you paid for, a month or a year, until you cancel it.
- You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Subscriptions are sold only on the website, not in the app stores. Refunds follow the law where you live.
- If the price changes, you will be told by email before the new price applies to you.
Your content is yours
You own what you write in Thelwen. In the free app we never receive it. In the full system we store and process it only to provide the service to you: syncing it, running the analysis and letting the mentor answer.
Ideas and feedback
Thelwen is built with its community. If you share ideas or feedback, in the waitlist, on Discord or anywhere else, we may use them to build Thelwen without paying you or crediting you for them.
The community
Be decent to other people. No harassment, hate, spam or illegal content. We may remove anyone who breaks this from the community or the waitlist. Discord’s own terms also apply there.
The mentor is not a professional
The free app’s mentor is a fixed set of questions and Stoic quotations. The full system’s mentor uses AI, and AI can be wrong. Neither is a person, and nothing either says is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you are in crisis, contact a crisis line or emergency number where you are.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law where you are allows, the person who makes Thelwen is not liable for lost data, missed work, or any decision you take after using the app or reading something the mentor said. For the full system, total liability is limited to what you paid in the 12 months before the claim. If your law does not allow a limit this broad, the narrowest limit it does allow applies.
Age
The free app is not directed at children under 13. The waitlist and the full system are for people aged 16 and over.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top moves. For changes that affect subscribers or waitlist members, we will also email you before they take effect.
